Jimmie Harlan Stands, 56, of Star Valley, died Oct. 10, 2001, in Payson. He was born June 7, 1945, in Wellington, Kan.

Mr. Stands was a Vietnam veteran, auto mechanic, and four-wheel drive enthusiast.

Survivors include his wife Maudie Stands of Star Valley; three daughters, Faith Kingsbury of Queen Creek, Virginia Shephard of Kansas City, Mo., and Kim Kissinger of Queen Creek; two sons, Bill Stands of Scottsdale and Montgomery Roberts of Phoenix; two sisters, Karen Keye of Chandler and Pat Goodline of Tucson; one brother, Jack Stands of Chandler; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Stands was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Tammy Hull, and his parents, Alma and Paul Phillippi.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, in Phoenix.

Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, 8125 N. 23rd Ave, No. 222, Phoenix, AZ. 85021.
