Time Out Inc., a nonprofit organization in Payson which offers shelter and services for victims of domestic violence, will hold its candlelight vigil Thursday, Oct. 18.
The event is scheduled to promote and bring awareness to victims of domestic violence. Supporters are asked to meet at 5:45 at the First Southern Baptist Church, 302 S. Ash, and join with others in a walk from that location to the Payson Town Hall complex. Following the walk, there will be a short program in the parking lot of town hall.
Domestic violence training
The Time Out Shelter will be presenting a two-day workshop for those interested in knowing more about domestic violence.
The workshop will be held Nov. 7 and 8 at the Church of the Holy Nativity, 1414 N. Easy Street in Payson.
The workshop is being presented by Arizona Peace Officer Standards Training Board along with the Arizona Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Time Out Inc.
Classes will include training on skills to identify types of physical, sexual and emotional abuse as well as information on victim safety and prevention of future violence through enforcement of protection orders.
The workshop will begin at 8 a.m. both days and end at 5:30 p.m.
