Hoop Shoot To Benefit Cancer, Disaster Relief

Rim country hardwood hopefuls will have the opportunity to tune up their shooting skills at a special benefit from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today (Friday).

The event Basketball Shoot for The Cure is being sponsored by Gila County and will be held at the county complex, 714 S. Beeline Highway.

According to event organizers, the shoot is expected to become an annual Rim country event.

The proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Cancer Research and the Disaster Relief Fund.

For a small donation, participants will be given the opportunity to shoot free throws and win prizes donated by local merchants.

Entrants will participate in one of three divisions men, women or children.

There will also be food, soft drinks and baked goods for sale.

Also on the agenda are a series of raffles and live entertainment.

Education material concerning cancer will be available.
