The Longhorn football team will probably be without the services of at least two starters when it travels today to Lakeside to take on unbeaten and state top-ranked Blue Ridge.
Sophomore Mike Barr and senior Jeremy Greenburg are not expected to see action due to injuries.
Barr, a tight end, was knocked unconscious during last Friday's 61-0 win over Alchesay. He was carried from the field on a stretcher and treated at a Whiteriver hospital. He suffered a jaw injury. Doctors originally thought he would be able to return to action this evening, but after being examined by family doctors, it was decided to hold him out of play as a precautionary measure. He could be back in the lineup for the Show Low game Oct. 26. When he returns, coaches said, he will have to be fitted with a different face mask and chin strap to project his injured jaw.
Greenburg, a two-way tackle, suffered an ankle injury that had him hobbled most of the Alchesay game and the during past practice week, coaches said. Like Barr, he is expected to return for the season-ending Show Low clash.
