The town council voted six to one to hold a hearing on a 15-percent increase for users of more than 5,000 gallons of water per month. Some time back, it was households using more than 10,000 gallons per month.
As more and more development is granted, eventually the water use limit per month might be lowered even further and rate increases could be expected.
I find the idea of penalizing longtime residents for using more than 5,000 gallons of water very offensive. Does anybody inform newcomers, who want to build, about the town's water situation? As more buildings are going up, the result will be more and more congestion and a type of Phoenix sprawl that will occur with similar consequences.
