Citizens of Payson can sign the Constitution and mark their place in history. The Mogollon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in conjunction with the National Constitution Center is sponsoring an "I Signed the Constitution" event from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 17 and 18 at the Payson Public Library.
Every signer will receive a free pocket-sized copy of the Constitution, an "I Signed the Constitution" button and a copy of the Constitutional Gazette.
Just as the original signers did, participants can place their signatures on parchment scrolls.
These scrolls will be returned to the National Constitution Center and become part of a permanent archival record in the new Constitution Center, scheduled to open July 4, 2003, in Philadelphia.
