Payson Can Be Proud Of Its Former Students

As I placed scholarship checks in the mail today, I thought about how we as a society are too often critical of today's youth and only focus on the negative few that make the headlines.

Payson needs to recognize and be proud of our young people and especially those that are being successful at institutions of higher learning.

Currently, the Payson Rotary Club provides financial support for six former Payson High School Longhorns who are attending universities or trade school. They are Sarah Ortlund and Sarah Scott at NAU, Mary Mendoza and Reanna Martinez at ASU, Brandalyn Curtis at BYU and Misti Weller at Scottsdale Culinary Institute.

The average grade point average of these former Payson High School students is an impressive 3.5 with 4.0 being perfect.

Payson Rotary members are very proud of these young people who are representing their hometown exceptionally well.
