James Wilson, 83, of Payson died Sept. 5, 2001, in Phoenix. He was born Oct. 9, 1918, in Middlesboro, Ky., to John and Rose Wilson. He was one of four children.
Mr. Wilson entered the Navy at the age of 15. He traveled all over the world before World War II began. He served in the South Pacific until the early 1940s, when he was injured.
Wilson was a member of the IBEW Union, retiring after 20 years of service. He also was a member of the Disabled Veterans and belonged to the Masonic Lodge, Wayfarer No. 50 in Sunnyslope.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Margaret; two daughters, Pamelalyn Norton of California and Kathy McCune of Illinois; three step-children, seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, and one sister.
Graveside services were held at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix Monday, Sept. 10.
