Payson High Celebrates Student-Athlete Day


A select group of Payson High School student-athletes was honored Thursday for accomplishments on and off the playing field.

Doling out the awards were the National Consortium for Academics and Sports, Northeastern University's Sport in Society, the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the National Federation of State High School Associations.

The organizations joined together to celebrate National Student-Athlete Day by issuing honors certificates to the PHS award winners. The certificates read, "for achieving excellence in academics and athletics, while making significant contributions to our community."

Those selected from Payson High School, athletic director Dave Bradley said, were nominated by their coaches. The honorees included Chad McRae, Brittney Curtis, Stephanie Marrs, Billy Hoyt, Brandan Kelley, David Curtiss, Wellington Cassuto, Nick Cassuto, Ky Bradley, Shea Hatch, Tina Jackson, Blair River, Lee Ann Owens, Brandi Waugh, Jennifer Plumb, Hillari Hardt, Whitney Hardt, George Coleman and Andy Sargent.
