Carpenter To Start As Town Manager By End Of August


The contract for the new town manager was approved at a special meeting of the council Thursday night.

Frederick C. Carpenter, the town manager for Wickenburg, will receive a salary of $89,000.

According to the employment agreement with Carpenter, he will report for duty on or before Aug. 30.

In addition to the salary, Carpenter will receive mileage reimbursement at 36.5 cents a mile and expenses related to his work as the town manager. The council also agreed to provide up to $5,000 in relocation expenses.

Carpenter was one of five finalists out of 137 applicants for the job. The town's Interim Town Manager Kelly Udall was also a finalist.

The council decided to offer the job to Carpenter at a special meeting July 23.

Assigned to negotiate the contract with him were Councilors Dick Wolfe and Robert Henley, Town Attorney Sam Streichman and Town Chief Financial Officer Glenn Smith.
