Local Man Killed In Rollover

Victor Sarytchoff, 44, Payson, was killed this week in a one-vehicle rollover.

The fatal accident occurred around 10:30 p.m., Monday, July 29, on Highway 87 north of the Highway 260 turnoff to Camp Verde. Sarytchoff was on his way to Flagstaff, his mother, Adele Sarytchoff said.

According initial information provided to the family, it is believed Sarytchoff collided with a deer or elk and rolled his vehicle, a 4x4 Dodge truck. He was thrown from the truck and died at the scene.

Pine-Strawberry Fire Chief Paul Coe said the vehicle tracks showed it had swerved from one lane to another, then rolled and hit a tree, crushing the right side. He said the truck had come to rest in an upright position.

Sarytchoff was disabled and had lived in Payson for five years.

He is survived by his mother, Adele Sarytchoff, Payson, and sons, James, 19, Alex, 15 and Shawn, 6.
