Summer Wraps With Vacation Bible School

Last week was the 8th Annual Vacation Bible School at Christopher Creek Bible Fellowship Church in Christopher Creek.

About 40 children showed up to learn lessons that should stay with them forever.

This year's theme was "Faith Mountain."

To enter the church, they had to crawl through an opening in the mountain, and all around the mountain were huge boulders made of large crumpled brown paper bags that looked like real boulders.

The children were given stickers everyday for memorizing their Bible verse for the day, for remembering to bring their Bibles, and for being good.

Friday, they all got to turn their stickers in for prizes.

There was a puppet show everyday to teach different lessons, and this seemed to be a fun time for all the children, especially when Ruben the frog showed up with his tickle song.

Many thanks to everyone who helped out: teachers Pat Guevara and Teresa Purtee; games, Tracy Purtee and Ann Kilbourne; crafts, Lois Jones; refreshments were by Rita Quay and Betty Mason, who also did registration which was not an easy task when you have 40 little ones who are in a hurry to get in.

The helpers who served as good role models for the little ones included Holly Purtee, Judy Snively, Teresa Branson, Mary Bryan, Jonathan Simmons, John Snively, Matthew Snively, Tyler Kilbourne, BJ Schantz, Bethany Mekoski, Molly Vang and Danielle Antol.

Special thanks to Pastor Ed and Susan Hepworth who spent the week helping with this year's Vacation Bible School, and to Tracy, Teresa and Holly Purtee who put this wonderful, learning event together and make it happen every year for all the children of the community.
