The Rim Country Optimist Club is coming before the town council this week to ask for support.
The club is planning the Community Festival of Youth Variety Fair in mid-September.
The event is being organized to encourage a network of local services and establish better communication between all the clubs and organizations that serve children in the Rim Country.
It will also provide a showcase for young people with two stages where they can perform, display artwork and speak about what is important to them.
The end product will be a database of children's services published in a directory and distributed to local agencies and programs.
Carolyn Snell, chair of the event, sees the directory as a resource listing scholarships, free clothing, eye glasses, funding for small group activities, clubs and services and more.
The Community Festival of Youth Variety Fair is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Rim Country Mall.
Members of the Optimist Club will be at the Aug. 15 council meeting to ask for the town's support of the event.
