Richard A. Lockwood, 81, of Hattiesburg, Miss., died Aug. 24, 2002.
Mr. Lockwood was a native of Payson and a graduate of Payson High School. He was a descendant of a founding pioneer family of Payson. He was a retired fleet manager in the trucking industry. Mr. Lockwood was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He was aboard the battleship USS California when it was attacked in Pearl Harbor.
Survivors include four daughters, Sandra Blauvelt of Ridgecrest, Calif., Michele Shively of Silver Spring, Md., Christine Aust of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Debora Joseph of Herndon, Va.; one brother, Joe Lockwood of Safford; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice A. Lockwood.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, Miss.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial at Roseland Park Cemetery.
Donations can be made to the Armed Forces Museum at Camp Shelby.
