Three acres of the Garcia property along South McLane will be the site for the Green Valley Apartments.
Designs for the affordable housing project will start as soon as the soil test results are complete, according to Richard Croy, president of the Payson Regional Housing Development.
The land purchased for the project is in the southwest corner, behind Rim Guidance Center. Croy said PRHD closed on the land Nov. 22, the deadline for having ownership of the property in order to have its grant award for the project released.
Croy said the soil tests were done last Wednesday (Nov. 27) and it should take about 10 days to get the results. The results are needed in order to design the complex appropriately, he said.
“Ideally we will complete construction in July,” Croy said.
The complex will have 24, three-bedroom units and 16, two-bedroom units. The manager will have one of the apartments, leaving 39 available for rent by families meeting the application qualification.
Croy said no applications are available yet.
When the PRHD is ready to take applications, a public announcement will be made, he said.
