If you haven’t noticed, the Stampede on Highway 260 reopened Thanksgiving weekend under new management.
Tim Davis has leased the arcade and miniature golf facility and is making big changes.
He plans to bring the community a cleaner, safer, more fun operation. There will be newer video games installed and plenty of incentives for family fun and frequent visitors, such as unlimited miniature golf play.
“We’re going to redefine our birthday and corporate parties and incorporate corporate challenges. We will have a zero-tolerance policy for hanging out, profanity and other unwelcome behavior,” Davis said.
He said he plans to work with the school districts on a good grade program, giving free arcade tokens to students who have earned As and Bs on their report cards.
Davis also will be involved in the weekly, monthly and quarterly outstanding student programs. He will be working with youth groups as well, providing a new resource for outings and year-end parties.
The reward of the business for Davis is seeing people having a good time. There are challenges too, such as inclement weather, and “... making all your money from quarters.” He said keeping a clean environment at all times is also tough.
Davis has been in the family entertainment business for 29 years, having worked everything from small video arcades to a 20-acre park.
“I want to be a part of the community, providing a good, clean, safe place where the whole family can come for entertainment. Come out for a good time,” Davis said.
Currently, he and his family live in Phoenix, but plan to relocate here when the business allows. His wife is employed by the team physician for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Stampede will be open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., weekdays, and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with hours subject to change to accommodate school and holiday schedules. The Stampede is at 805 E. Highway 260, between Comfort Inn and the 260 Cafe.
