Cough Up Bucks For Christmas Tree Auction

It’s time for the annual Christmas celebration and Christmas tree auction. Sponsored by the Rim Country Chamber of Commerce, this annual event brings kids, parents, grandparents and community members together for a light-hearted and truly unique holiday tradition.

Students and teachers have been very busy deciding themes and decorating their donated trees.

Starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 (yes, that is tomorrow) in the Cultural Hall at the Community Center these live trees, fully decorated will go to the highest bidder. Money raised goes directly into the classroom or department which decorated the tree. The funds are used for supplies, field trips and rewards. Local businesses will have extra goodies for bidders and guests.

The community tree will be lit following the auction and, of course, the jolly old elf himself will be arriving at 7 p.m. courtesy of the Pine-Strawberry Fire Department’s big red truck. Bring your camera, your checkbook and your holiday spirit.

Support the community children and enjoy this very special tradition, and maybe you will take home a tree.

More traditions

It’s time again for the season of shows at P-S school. The shows start at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 in the P-S School gym with the Winter Concert. The fifth-grade band, junior high band, choir and strings will bring the music to life with a series of traditional and nontraditional tunes guaranteed to lift your spirits. Everyone is invited to this free event.

Make a date, get dressed up, have a great dinner and round your evening out with a concert. These are good musicians, but more than that, these are the leaders of tomorrow, come out and show them some support.

Next is the Drama Festival at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13. The junior high students will shine on the stage of the Cultural Hall at the Community Center. Here is yet another opportunity to take that someone special out for an evening of culture and old-fashioned fun.

The finale is the annual Christmas Program. Preschool through fourth-grade students are busy practicing and preparing for this exciting night. The show begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17 in the P-S School gym.

The best holiday tradition of all is the ever-popular and oh-so-famous Childhood’s 12 Days of Christmas‚ which will once again star the youngest and most enthusiastic of our community for the event’s finale.
