Allan Clifford Hulbert, 45, of Tacoma, Wash., died Dec. 8, 2002. He was born in Mesa, Ariz., Feb. 21, 1957, and grew up in Tonto Basin.
Mr. Hulbert graduated from Payson High School in 1975. He graduated from Beauty College in Flagstaff. He attended Clover Park Tech and Pierce College in Tacoma.
Mr. Hulbert was given the Poet of Merit Award in September of 1999 by President Clinton in the White House. He was one of many who won in the World Poet Contest.
Mr. Hulbert is survived by his parents, Clem and Marilyn Hulbert of Payson; sister, Roxane (Wayne) McMillan of Payson; brothers, Lane (Lee Ann) Hulbert of Roosevelt, and Timothy (Carol) Hulbert of Glendale; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hulbert had two dear friends in Tacoma who watched over him, took care of his every need, and at the end, they took him to their home and were with him when he died. God bless you Jessie (Blake) and Mike Farnsworth.
Mr. Hulbert's sister Roxane and her husband, Wayne, were also by Allan's side when he died.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jip and Frankie Toot from Tonto Basin, and Harold and Ann Hulbert from Payson.
