Genevieve Emilie Pert Bertram, 83, of Payson, died Dec. 24, 2002. She was born Feb. 16, 1919 in Evanston, Ill.
Mrs. Bertram was a homemaker and served as head of the pediatric department of Carle Clinic and admissions director of Carle Hospital in Urbana, Ill.
Retirement to Payson in 1985 found her involved in, among other things, work with the Payson Senior Center, where she compiled gift bags for shut-ins at Christmas for several years; the Payson Public Library, where she enjoyed reading to children and caring for the plants; and Community Presbyterian Child Learning Center, where her small crocheted afghans are still used at naptimes.
She is survived by three daughters, Meredith Emert of Homer, Ill., Nancy Holcombe of Payson and Paula Morris of Burr Ridge, Ill.; six grandchildren, including Rob Holcombe of Flagstaff and Ken Holcombe of Payson; three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gustav Lange Bertram.
