The East runner-up Longhorn wrestling team travels to Veterans' Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix Thursday for the 3A state championships scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on eight mats.
Friday, quarterfinals and consolation first-round bouts begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 7:30 p.m. Action resumes Saturday at 9 a.m. and continues until the championship round begins at 5 p.m.
Payson enters the tournament with qualifiers in 12 weight divisions.

Early this week, the state qualifiers from the 3A conference's four regions (North, South, East and West) were seeded into the state tournament based on their region finish. In the opening round, first-place region finishers will take on fourth-place finishers from an opposing region. Regional runner-ups take on third-place finishers.
