Antony Joseph Shiya, 24, of Denver, Colo. died Feb. 17, 2002 in Denver. He was born June 17, 1977 in Payson.

Mr. Shiya was a surveyor and a teacher. He enjoyed roller hockey, friends and family and tutoring students. He was born and raised in Payson, graduated from Payson High School in 1995, was an active Boy Scout and loved outdoor activities. He graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2000 and moved to Denver.

Survivors include his parents, Al and Lauretta Shiya of Payson; three brothers, Alec Shiya of NAU at Flagstaff, Mikel Shiya of Payson and Brennan Shiya of Payson; two sisters, Marie Shiya-Cundiff and her husband Jonathan of Payson and Natalie Shiya of Payson; grandparents, Steve and Donna June Chapla of Payson and Mary Purnell of Phoenix; uncles and aunts, Mark and Vicky Shiya of Phoenix, Jackie and Ben Van Dyke of Kalispell, Mont., Dennis Chapla of South Bend, Ind., Bryan and Dawn Chapala of South Bend, Ind and Donna Chapla of Denver.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 511 S. St. Philips Street.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church.

Interment will be at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park.
