Globe Native New County Attorney

Daisy Gilker, 30, of Globe has been appointed to the position of Gila County Attorney, County Supervisor Ron Christensen said.

Gilker, who has been with the prosecutor's office as chief deputy, takes over as lead prosecutor for the county following Jim Hazel's resignation.

Hazel vacated the position after receiving appointment by Arizona Governor Jane Hull to fill retiring Gila County Superior Court Judge Edd Dawson's seat. Hazel will be sworn in next Wednesday.

Gilker's appointment was a unanimous decision by the supervising board, Christensen said.

"She had the best qualifications of any of the applicants," Christensen said of the Globe native. "Daisy has been a go-getter ever since she was in grade school."

Christensen added that he felt Gilker would represent the entire county "in every way."

Gilker's first official act was to name Patti Wortman as Chief Deputy County Attorney for the Payson area and Bryan Chambers for the southern half of Gila County.
