James Vance


James L. Vance, 68, of Glendale, formerly of Payson, died Jan. 14, 2002. He was born in Dexter City, Ohio.

Mr. Vance served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Southerland during the Korean War, for which he recently received an award from the Korean government. He married Mary E. Hicks, and they later divorced. He worked many years in the moving industry, at which time he married Madeline Skillman.

James was active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion and the VFW of Payson and Glendale.

Survivors include three daughters, Michelle Guiterrez of California, Theresa Anderson of Oregon and Mariella Donahue of Ohio; three sons, James Vance and Christian Vance of California, and Donald Skillman of Arizona; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Madeline in 1980 and his wife Lorraine in 2001.

Burial was at Veterans Memorial Cemetery. An Eagles memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 28 at Fraternal Order of Eagles, 7575 N. 67th Ave, Glendale.
