The Rim Country Rotary Club's 5th Annual Firequacker 2002 Mountain Duck Race was held Thursday at Green Valley Park.

Fans and supporters lined the banks of the lake to see who the six lucky winners would be. The first place duck worth $1,000 belonged to local Fire Chief John Ross. Second place, for $500, went to Doug Ray. Third place, for $150, was awarded to Ed Lazzerone. Fourth place, for $50, went to Chris Terwillegar. Fifth and sixth place ducks, worth $25 each, went to Mike Foree and Jim Gibson.

The club's annual fund-raiser has become a traditional part of Payson's Independence Day festivities with all proceeds benefiting college scholarships for local students, Friends of Parks and Rec, Rim Country Literacy Program, Payson Area Habitat for Humanity and other local charities.
