The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has released a report on perchloroethylene (PCE) contamination in Payson. PCE is a dry-cleaning solvent, according to Karen Probert of the water department.
The report is on the ADEQ's final remedial investigation of the site which is bounded by Frontier Street on the north, the Beeline Highway on the east, Aero Drive to the south and McLane Road to the west. The site boundaries provide the estimated extent of currently known contamination.
The site was placed on the Water Quality Assurance Fund Registry Site in April 1998.
Watch the Payson Roundup for an analysis of the report. A copy of report is available at the Payson library at Rumsey Park.
