The biggest topic of conversation all around the village this week was the weather.
Everyone has been trying to make an educated guess as to when the monsoons will be here to dampen our pine trees and our gardens.
For the past two days we have received a small amount of rain, but the downpour we are looking for has yet to arrive.
Probably the biggest topic of conversation in our household besides the weather, is the withdrawal we are going through from not fishing. We sorely miss fishing in the Tonto Creek and the rim lakes. Just thinking about the big fish waiting for us to land them is enough to drive us to distraction. All my fishing gear is just sitting in the corner of our shed waiting to be used. We are hoping that it won't be much longer to wait to catch that big trout.
Tonto Village Fire District
There will be a budget meeting starting at 9 a.m. before the regular meeting at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 13 at the fire station. The meetings are open to the public, so stop by and check out what your fire department is doing for you.
Chief Alliger will let everyone know when the demonstration of the fire retardant gel for the Barricade Company can be held. The fire danger is still too high to light any kind of fire, even under strict supervision. Fire training will start at 12 p.m.
Chief J.R. Alliger would like to thank everyone for the fantastic cooperation on manning the checkpoint for all these weeks. They have given of their time to help make everyone in the Village feel safer by checking all the vehicles coming through. Keep up the good work!
