Coaches' Clinic Added To Soccer Camp Agenda

The Payson Youth Soccer camp has added a new feature.

In addition to offering a week of intensive training for high school boys, this year's edition of the camp will include a coaches' clinic, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 24.

According to boys soccer coach Roger Wholly, the exact site of the clinic will be announced next week. The clinic, Wholly said, is designed to help local youth coaches enhance their skills.

The clinic instructor, Hugh Bell, is a nationally recognized coach who has led Prescott Yavapai College to a national championship and several stellar seasons.

"He'll have some great plays and great strategies for all the coaches (who attend)," Wholly said. The fee for the clinic is $120.

The youth camp, which kicks off July 22 at the Rumsey North field, has openings for about three or four athletes, Wholly said. Sessions will be held Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Wholly is recommending that all aspiring Payson High School junior varsity and varsity hopefuls participate in the camp. The fee is $120.
