Dryer Court Date Reset For Aug. 13

The sentencing and restitution hearing for former Tonto Basin Cemetery Fund administrator John Dryer, which was expected to take place last week in Globe, has been moved again this time to 9:30 a.m., Aug. 13, at the Payson courthouse.

Dryer, a longtime Tonto Basin Realtor, has been charged with "tampering with evidence" in a case that stems from his involvement with the Tonto Basin Cemetery Fund, which he administered from June 1995 to October 1998.

The tampering charge which was filed after six counts of theft and two counts of fraud were dropped resulted from Dryer's alleged admission to other cemetery fund administrators that he purposely destroyed a number of the organization's bank and accounting records.
