Payson Men's Golf Association member Rick Korth swung his way to top honors in the dual match July 17 on the Payson Golf Course.
Members of the Prescott Antelope Hills men's association and the PMGA competed in the low-net by flight tournament.
In winning first flight Payson honors, Korth finished with a tally of 60. Trailing in the flight were Don Back (second, 63), Troy Neal (third, 65), John Pauley (fourth, 66) and Frank Karnes (fifth, 66).
In PMGA rules, ties are usually decided by scorecard playoffs.
In the second flight, John Peel's card of 60 earned him first-place laurels.
Herb Sherman was second, with a 63. Tony Mularski captured third, Victory Kostecki was fourth and Dean Bulkley fifth. All finished at 68.
The battle for third flight hardware turned into the Tom Mallett show when the club member carded the lowest net tally of the day a 59.
Bobby Bryant and Jim Furimsky both finished at 63. On the scorecard playoff, Bryant was awarded second. Doug Talbot finished fourth at 64 and Tom Eaglesham was fifth (70).
Unfamiliarity with the course didn't slow Antelope Hills' John Parsons when it came to the battle for closest-to-the-pin honors.
On No. 2, Parsons pocketed prize money by swatting to within 25 feet of the pin.
Payson's LeRoy Robinson was closest on No. 5 with a tee shot that left him 2 feet, 10 inches shy of the hole.
