The Strawberry Elite is hosting a luau from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, July 28, in the newly reopened Black Bear Lounge. For just $10, you get a plate of roast pig, sweet-and-sour chicken, rice, fruit salad and dessert, and music by Whitewater. Money raised by the Strawberry Elite goes to the needy children and families right here in Pine-Strawberry. Bring a grass skirt, a Hawaiian shirt and they will provide the lei.

School Starts Aug. 1

The children are buying their school supplies and moms are counting down. Just under five days now by my count. Pine-Strawberry Elementary School is open for questions and registration. Pre-schoolers as young as 3 years old are encouraged to check in for programs and services offered. If you are new to the area and have not yet registered or need a school supply list from your teacher, call the office at (928) 476-3279.

Re-enrollment packets for returning students will be sent home on the first day of school.

You web-wise Internet junkies can register online at www.escrip.com and go to "sign up." Designate Pine-Strawberry Elementary School, group ID No. 6552605. P-S library spotlight

You can discover yourself through writing and journaling for self expression, or at least read about it at the Isabelle Hunt Memorial Library.

The focus of this month's collection of books will be how to use writing for your own pleasure and personal discovery. Stop in and check it out. While you are there, watch for announcements of future seminars and reading groups.
