Murder Suspect Indicted By Grand Jury


A Payson man is facing a murder charge in the death of another Payson resident.

Charles Homer Johnson, 54, Payson, was indicted by the Gila County Grand Jury May 29 on a charge of first-degree murder in the May 19 death of Mitchell Allen Gingry.

He was also indicted on one count of aggravated assault/dangerous nature offense and one count of kidnapping/dangerous nature offense in relation to taking Laura Lee Hansen, 54, from her home in Payson. Gingry was reportedly killed in Hansen's home, where he rented a room.

Johnson was arraigned June 3 at the Gila County Superior Court in Payson. He pled not guilty. A case management conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Monday, July 8.

Johnson remains in custody.

Gila County Attorney Daisy Flores Gilker is prosecuting the case.
