The Payson Regional Economic Development Corporation has announced that a new company will be opening an office in Payson. United Publishing will be locating a portion of their ad sales department on the North Beeline Highway in June and plans to employ about 20 people.
Based in Phoenix, United Publishing has been working to find a suitable location in Payson for a number of months but had run into numerous obstacles.
"We were just about to change (our) plans and look at Flagstaff," United Publishing Vice President Barbara Wood said. "(PREDC) asked us to work with them for the rest of the week before giving up on Payson.
"(PREDC) came through for us and helped us find the perfect location. If it weren't for (PREDC) we would not be expanding into Payson."
The company will be hiring sales representatives for the local office. They work from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday for a total of 30 hours per week. Sales representatives receive an hourly wage (not commissions) plus bonuses and incentives.
All employees receive a benefits package that includes health, life and disability insurance; life insurance and paid holidays and vacation.
All sales are made via telephone and, according to the company, very low pressure.
Job applications are available at the PREDC office at 501 W. Main, #C and the Chamber of Commerce.
The company publications include United Publishing's American Minority, Minority Review, Latino Issues and Equal Employment & Civil Rights Journal. Their flagship publication, The Minority Review, is a newspaper that is distributed free to colleges, universities, trade schools, placement centers and job banks.
