Childhood Friends Mark


Earl and LaVerne Cheek will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary Thursday, March 28.

Earl and LaVerne were childhood friends and attended grade school together. They were married Easter Sunday, March 28, 1937 in Miami, Okla. They moved around, but spent most of their married life in Southern California. Earl and LaVerne are retired and moved to Payson in September 1995 to be near their daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Kurt Longfellow. The Cheeks have two daughters, Beverly and Sharon, and one grandson, Scott Longfellow, who lives in Florida with his wife, Kimberly, and the Cheek's two great-grandsons, Alan and Steven. The couple enjoys traveling in their motor home, visiting friends and neighbors and watching Payson sunsets.
