The Gila County DUI Task Force arrested five allegedly impaired motorists March 15.
"We also had two people arrested on possession of methamphetamine and marijuana charges, as well as one person for driving with a DUI suspended license," Sgt. Robert L. Ticer of the Department of Public Safety said.
Six law enforcement agencies participated in the DUI saturation patrols Friday night, which carried into early Saturday morning.
"The average alcohol content of all those arrested for DUI was .16 percent, which is twice the amount at which a driver is presumed to be under the influence," Ticer said.
Participating agencies included DPS, Payson Police, Globe Police, Miami Police, San Carlos Tribal Police and the Gila County Sheriff's Office.
Payson Police officers and Gila County deputies in the Payson area conducted several traffic stops during the six-hour DUI patrol saturation, arresting three people for DUI, two for driving on a suspended license and two for drug-related charges.
The DUI multi-agency enforcement was part of a countywide effort to get impaired drivers off the road during the St. Patrick's Day weekend.
The agencies will combine forces again April 27 and will operate a sobriety check point over Memorial Day weekend.
