Wranglers Rope

Steve Sherwood of Snowflake is optimistic that his jackpot team roping this weekend, March 23 and 24, at the Payson Event Center will draw 600 teams.
The event begins Saturday with an open handicapped drawpot. The books open at 9 a.m. and the first steer out of the chute is scheduled for 10 a.m.
High-point header and heeler of the day will not only take home cash, they will be awarded silver bits and headstalls.
Sunday, the format changes to a four (classification) and under roping drawpot.
The awards increase significantly, with first and second place receiving saddles; third place, bits and headstalls; fourth, buckles; fifth place Wonpads; and sixth place, breast collars.
Sherwood says all prizes are guaranteed and the money payback will be based on the number of teams roping.
If you can't make this roping, Sherwood will host another one April 6 and 7 in Payson. Winners will dally up as they vie for a new horse trailer.
Admission is free for spectators.
