Dr. Milo S. Willis, 77, of Payson died March 22, 2002, at his home.
He was born Sept. 3, 1924, and was raised in Snowflake.
Willis flew a Navy carrier-based dive bomber during World War II. He went on to graduate from the University of Arizona with a master's degree in Agricultural Education and then graduated from Fort Collins School of Veterinary Medicine in 1957.
Dr. Willis was a veterinarian treating both large and small animals. He had animal hospitals in both Tolleson and Goodyear from 1957 to 1972. In 1972, he moved to Payson and built an animal hospital where he continued his practice until his retirement in 1979.
Dr. Willis was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1962, and even with his diagnosis, he continued to contribute significantly to his community and church.
Survivors include his wife, Cherrel; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Don Blair of Vacaville, Calif.; one son and a daughter-in-law, Jerry and Kaylene Willis of Tempe; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jayne and Jacque.
Services were held Monday, March 25 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Payson. Interment was in Snowflake. Arrangements were handled by Messinger Payson Funeral Home.
