John W. "Woody" Kring, 84, of Humboldt, died March 23, 2002, in Phoenix. He was born Jan. 6, 1918, in Sandia, Texas, to James D. Kring and Ada (Sparks) Kring.
Mr. Kring moved to Arizona in 1924 and graduated from Buckeye High School in 1935. He married Lucile, his wife of 62 years, Sept. 18, 1939.
He attended Arizona State College (NAU) in Flagstaff. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Kring moved to Humboldt in 1979. He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Payson, the Bass Fishing Club of Prescott, and a 50-year member of the Operating Engineers Local 428. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Kring is survived by his wife, Lucile; his children, Charlie and Alice Kring of Prescott, Joe and Fran Kring of Mesa, Tom and Gloria Kring of Phoenix, and Carolyn and Leon McKendree of Prescott Valley; a sister, Ruth Blakely of Payson; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Harold Kring.
Services were held March 28 in Prescott. Interment followed at Redwood Memorial Gardens in Dewey.
