Rodeo Parade Saturday

It's parade time in the Rim country.

Get down to Main Street early Saturday and claim your space. The Rodeo Parade starts at 9 a.m. at Sawmill Crossing and travels west on Main Street to McLane.

Bring your lawn chairs, umbrellas and bonnets, sunscreen and water and plan for some horsing around.

Grand marshals of the parade are members of the late Vertilee Floyd's family, Chris and Jerry Floyd and their children, Matthew and Kayla.

Introducing parade participants will be local celebrity, John Carpino.

Scheduled to appear in the May 18 parade are the Payson Rodeo Committee; the Tucson Vaqueras; Miss Rodeo Arizona Kate Cox; Arizona High School Rodeo Queen Wanette Wilson; Turquoise Circuit Queen Christina Davis; the reigning Payson Pro Rodeo Queen Brandyce Engler; six out-of-state rodeo queens; and the contestants for the 2002 royalty title for the Gary Hardt Memorial PRCA Rodeo, Heather Freeman, Maria Gomez, Jessica Listiak and Mandi Rau.

There will be vendors along the parade route to make the morning more of a party.
