Payson loves discounts. Hence the continuing popularity of the Amazing 99 Cent Store, Family Dollar, Sav-Mor Foods and the Wal-Mart Supercenter.
Now locals can add a new brand-name discounter to that list.
Bealls Outlet has just opened its 324th store this one in the 14,400-square-foot Payson Plaza storefront once occupied by Palmer's Furniture at 305 S. Beeline Highway, next door to Family Dollar.
With prices discounted up to 70 percent off those you'd find in big-name department stores, the aisles of Bealls Outlet are stocked with a wide variety of branded apparel, shoes, gifts, novelty items, books, videos and CDs for the whole family. The merchandise assortments consist of vendor closeouts, private-label import and domestic buys, and off-price lines.
The store also boasts a "Senior Shopping" program that entitles customers 50 years of age and over to a 15-percent discount off all purchases every Monday. In addition, the Outlet has a Frequent Shopper program that is open to customers of all ages and entitles the cardholder to a 20-percent discount upon filling the card by spending $200.
Not to be confused with the Bealls department-store chain, Bealls Outlet is similar to major-mall discounters TJ Maxx, Marshall's and Ross Dress for Less.
In addition to the chain's 14 Arizona stores, there are currently Bealls Outlets in Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Alabama, and California and there are plans to open 20 additional sites by July of this year.
