Optimists Need Help With Holiday Food Drive


The Rim Country Optimist Club has started the annual Community Christmas Food Drive, formerly operated by the Payson Lioness Club.

Canned goods are being collected to provide a hearty Christmas for families in need.

The Rim Country Mall will be the main holding site this year. There are several drop sites around town as well: Payson Perk, at the mall, Safeway, Bashas’ and Wal-Mart will have decorated boxes for contributions. New sites will be added throughout the campaign. The goal for this year is to serve at least 400 families.

Participation applications will only be accepted from Monday, Dec. 2 through Friday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Department of Economic Security office, around the corner from Bashas’ on Highway 87.

Distribution will be 9 a.m. to noon, Monday, Dec. 23 at the Rim Country Middle School.
