Teen Assaulted In Mesa Del Caballo


Randy Alan Zimmer Jr. and Randy Alan Zimmer Sr. were arrested and charged with aggravated assault/domestic violence Monday.

The victim was a 17-year-old boy. The juvenile was reportedly assaulted on Toya Vista Road in Mesa del Caballo at about 2:30 p.m. Nov. 18.

According to initial reports from witnesses who spoke to Mesa del Fire Chief Frank Hansen, the boy was walking in the road when a car pulled up and stopped, two males emerged from the vehicle and assaulted the boy.

Witnesses told the chief the boy was attacked by his father and brother.

Lt. Don Engler of the Payson Police Department said a baseball bat was used in the assault.

Hansen said his people arrived on the scene within two minutes of receiving the call. The boy was unconscious and started having seizures.

Hansen said the victim was transported by helicopter to Scottsdale Healthcare hospital. The chief did not know the boy’s condition when interviewed at press time, and could not release his name.

The PPD assisted the Gila County Sheriff’s Office in the arrests at about 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18 at the Gateway Mobile Home Park.
