Q: Why has the town reduced the number of recycling bins at Wal-Mart and Green Valley Park to one per location?
A: It's a storage issue. When the town was working with a Phoenix company, several bins needed to be filled at a time to make the project economically feasible. Now the town is working with Waste Management, and they, in turn, are working with a company in Pinetop-Lakeside. As a result, the bins are stored in Payson and can be switched out more frequently.
Q: There's a trash truck in our neighborhood that starts in at 4 a.m. clanging dumpsters, loud motors, backing up, beep beep. Isn't there a law against that?
A: "It all depends," Payson Police Department Lt. Don Engler said, "on information you haven't provided."
It might be covered under the town's noise ordinance, although there are "some exceptions for commercial vehicles."
The key question is whether you live in a residential neighborhood. Give Engler a call at 474-5242 and he'll try to help you.
