The town may finally move forward on the Garcia property purchase.
The Payson Town Council has a special meeting tonight (Tuesday) at 6 p.m. to again discuss the purchase of the 12-acre site.
The acquisition of the humane society property also is on the agenda.
The council will talk about obligating a portion of future sales tax to pay for the loan needed to make the purchases and finance several other projects.
The loan sought by the town is for $3 million, to be paid back over a period of 15 years.
The cost of the Garcia property is $660,000; the humane society land is $210,000. Together, portions of the sites will be used to construct a drainage system for the recovery of runoff to benefit the town water supply, according to information presented at the Oct. 8 special meeting on the same subject.
The other projects under consideration for financing through the loan are: a public works maintenance building; a hangar project at the airport; and possibly a cover for the Payson Event Center.
The public works building is estimated to cost $600,000; the hangar project, $385,000; and the event center cover has an estimated cost of $610,000.
While these projects will be discussed, the agenda only calls for actual action regarding the purchase of the Garcia and humane society properties.
