A Time For Turkeys?

TONTO VILLAGE

It is time to think of turkey, family gatherings and making your favorite dishes for the Thanksgiving table and dressing up your home.

This year, Bill and I will be spending Thanksgiving in the Village. He says that I do not have to cook this year, so maybe I get to be served at a restaurant. After cooking major meals for all of our children and grandchildren for so many years, it will be a very pleasant change.

Do not forget that the general election will be Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the R-Bar-C Boy Scout Camp. This election is just as important as the presidential election, so please make time in your busy day to exercise your right to vote for the candidates of your choice. We, in the Zane Grey District, have a chance to elect a board member to the Tonto Village Fire District, so it is important for you in this area to elect the best person possible.

I missed a birthday last week, Melinda Bryan had her big day Oct. 26. Happy belated birthday.

I am sorry about the wrong gender for Patrick 'Pat' Andres, when I reported his birthday last week. I hope you had a great birthday anyway, even if I did goof.

Get well wishes and a quick recovery for June Milke. She underwent surgery last week. We wish her well.

Collins Ranch

Fred Aldorossi from Collins Ranch was lucky enough to bag an elk this season. That was good hunting Fred.

Paul and BJ Livermore, also from Collins Ranch, are visiting their daughter and grandchildren in Michigan and enjoying their stay.

Ellison Creek Estates

There is sad news to report from Ellison Creek Estates.

Jackie Snider, a longtime resident, died Oct. 23 from pneumonia brought on by her last bout with cancer treatments. There will not be a local memorial service. She will be cremated and taken to Nebraska to be laid to rest with her parents and other family members.

Jackie was formerly from Yuma, and my husband knew her husband from Yuma Proving Grounds. Jackie spent her summers in Ellison Creek for many years and was instrumental in acquiring electricity for Ellison Creek Estates.

She also bought street signs for the subdivision.

Jackie was in the midst of planning her dream house in Ellison Creek. She will be missed by all of the residents in the subdivision. The residents will be placing a plaque at the intersection of Ponderosa and Forest Lane in her memory.
