Jessie Florez, Cory Holmes, Hanna Cowan, and Frankie Jo Marazza had a good time at the Halloween Party at the Landmark Saturday night, patiently waiting for the judges to start the contest.
Judges were Judy Tolle and Sandy Shelly. Around 60 little ones showed up with costumes from Harry Potter to a little girl who dressed as a surprise gift with all the trimmings.
This was the fist time in nine years that the hayride had to be cancelled due to heavy rain. Everyone handled it pretty well and with the quick thinking of Gary Anderson and Sally Tharp, the party turned great.
Sally and Keith Tharp, along with Dean Dodson, headed out in the rain from neighbor to neighbor collecting their candy and bringing it back to the party where the children got to parade around in their costumes and get lots of treats.
Special thanks to Marge Anderson, Mimi Tidwell, JoBeth Mooney, and Kris Johnson who helped with food prep and service. Thanks to Kevin Mystrom, owner of the Landmark, and his fine staff for providing lots of help and assistance.
Also to Fire Chief Kent Courtney and to Scotty VanEckhoutte who were waiting to pull the Halloween cart as the rain came down.
Best-decorated houses belonged to Steve and Carol Watson, and Barbara and Ron Milnarik.
New officers elected to the Christopher Creek Homeowners Association were Gary Anderson, Sally Tharp and Karen Thorton. Congratulations to all of you and keep up the good work.
Now that Halloween is over, it's time to think about Christmas. At 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, they will have the annual hanging of the Christmas lights and displays. They will need a lot of help for this big job. At noon, there will be a potluck at the fire hall to celebrate their hard work. Come out and support the community and get to know your neighbors. Then you can tell me if you think Gary's chili is better than mine.
Birthdays this month: Ed Hepworth (Nov. 9); Al Dale (Nov. 10); Larry Boeschling (Nov. 13); Ray Larsen and Ken Hamilton (Nov. 16); Chris Purtee and Bob Quay (Nov. 22); Don Anderson and Stan Szczepanski (Nov. 27); and Robert Jones and Dorothy Sagert (Nov. 28). Happy Birthday to all of you.
