Because of the vulnerability in Payson to wildfires from the surrounding Tonto National Forest, I have been pondering many things.
Let me suggest such a scenario:
There are two adjacent properties privately owned by two different parties which adjoin the national forest. One property owner assumed responsibility and made his property concur with the Forest Services Fire Retardant Guidelines. The second property owner did not and they had been notified of this deficiency.
If a fire would spread from the neglected property to the complying property, would not the neglecting property owner have at least a partial financial responsibility to the complying property owner because they were insufficient on their maintenance of their property?
All of us who live in Payson must take seriously our responsibilities to both ourselves, our neighbors, and our fellow townsmen.
