Tuesday night, the folks at the Landmark held a going away party for Jake and Peggy Livingston. About 50 people showed up to wish them the best on their move to Oregon.
Although we really hate to see wonderful people leave our community, we can understand why they feel they have to. The Livingstons have been wanting to go home to be with their children for a long time and they finally made the decision to go.
The Livingstons have lived in Christopher Creek for seven years. Peggy worked at the Landmark for six years as the breakfast cook. Jake was a heavy equipment operator. They will be missed in our community. Our thoughts and prayers will be with them as they journey to Oregon.
Longtime resident Pat Guthauser of Ponderosa Springs passed away Aug. 23. She will be sadly missed.
The 23rd Annual Flatlanders Party is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 10. It is a potluck as always. Same place, same time. Place: "If you don't know where, you don't belong there," Trisha says. Bring your potluck, lawn chairs and your coolers and just show up.
The Christopher Creek Fire Department will be holding public meetings and the topic of discussion will be the adoption of the Uniform Fire Code. This item will be on the Nov. 5 ballot.
Fire officials would like you to attend at least one of these meetings and learn the facts regarding this issue.
There will be three opportunities to attend: 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8; 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 30; and 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26. All meetings will be held at the Christopher Creek Fire Station. If you need special accommodations, call the station, 478-4011.
You can also call or write to officials to express your opinion. A copy of the uniform fire code is available at Station 51 in Christopher Creek for your examination.
Don't forget Gila County Appliance Disposal Day, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Christopher Creek Transfer Station. This is an opportunity to dispose of old appliances lying around for free. It is limited to washers, dryers, stoves, dishwashers, metal heaters, refrigerators and coolers.
