Wells Fargo Mortgage will not have to fork over the $25,000 it had offered to anyone who sunk a hole in one on Payson Golf Course's No. 2 while playing in the Habitat for Humanity benefit tournament Aug. 24.
The closest any player could come on the par 3, 196-yard hole was about 5 feet away. That tee shot came off the club of Payson resident Jerry David.
With no hole in one to celebrate, the tournament field's jubilation was limited to the awarding of the first- through third-place teams.
Taking top honors was the foursome of Willie Ingram, Jeff Bartlett, Scott Darnell and Don Hamman.
Jim Brady, Pam Brady, Mike McDonald and Jason Schwein placed second.
Third place honors went to Dale Gonzalez, Rick Korth, Bruce Martinez and Brian Patterson.
In the match, 27 foursomes representing Prescott, Sierra Vista, Tucson, Payson and Phoenix participated.
Following tournament, participants enjoyed a lunch catered by Quizno's. Players also participated in several raffles, drawings and prize giveaways.
The funds raised by the tournament, which have yet to be counted, will be donated to the Payson Area Habitat for Humanity.
The tournament was sponsored by the Pioneer Title Agency.
