These classes will teach your dog how to traverse a maze of obstacles, zip through tunnels, traverse a dog walk, and much more. Whether you plan to compete someday or simply want to strengthen your relationship with your dog, this class is lots of fun.
Classes begin Sept. 14, and will meet each Saturday for eight weeks from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Class fee is $100 for the eight-week session, which includes demonstration/orientation and graduation. Class space is limited 10-participant minimum and 12-participant maximum. One handler per dog. Junior handlers are welcome provided they have voice control over the dog.
In order to hold this class, we need more people to register. Registration is currently being accepted through Sept. 13 at the Parks and Recreation office.
Ride the Train to the Canyon
Relax and enjoy the scenery as you ride aboard the Grand Canyon Railway to the Canyon. Upon arrival at the Canyon, enjoy two hours of free time to relax at one of the many restaurants for lunch and explore and photograph the many scenic points of the Canyon. A stop at the Canyon IMAX theater and surrounding eateries will conclude your trip before returning to Payson. This day trip will take place Oct. 8, 2002. The cost is $84 per person, which includes the motorcoach, train fare, park entrance fee, and IMAX fee. Registration is currently being accepted at the Parks and Rec office until Sept. 6. Explore Kartchner Cavern
Experience one of Arizona's most unusual state parks. Tour a living limestone cave featuring dynamic structures such as stalactites, stalagmites, and other unusual formations. This day trip will take place Dec. 3, 2002. The cost is $43 per person, which includes the motorcoach and park entrance fee. Registration is currently being accepted at the Parks and Rec office until Nov. 2, 2002. Tour is limited to 46 participants..
Broadway Musical: The Producers
This award winning musical is sure to leave you delirious with laughter. The price is $47 per person, which includes the motorcoach fare and show ticket. Registration is currently being accepted at the Parks and Rec. Seats are limited to 48 participants and are assigned on a first come, first served basis. This day trip will take place Sunday, Jan. 19, 2002, departing at about 11:00 a.m. Show will take place at Gammage Auditorium in Tempe. Deadline is Dec. 6, 2002. 21 seats left.
Trunk-or-Treat Volunteers Wanted
The plans have begun for this year's Trunk-or-Treat. This program gives local youth a fun and safe place to trick-or-treat. This event will be held at the Payson Event Center Oct. 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.. If you wish to participate, you and other costumed volunteers will decorate your vehicle and hand out candy provided by the Parks and Rec. Participants are eligible for prizes for the best costume and the best decorated vehicle. Spaces are limited, so if you would like to be a part of this event, call to reserve your space now.
