A Rim country retreat for fans of the scrapbooking phenomenon is planned for early October.
Arranged by Connie Smith, owner of Homespun Memories, Payson's own scrapbook supply store, the retreat is Oct. 4-6 at the Holiday Inn Express of Payson, 206 S. Beeline Highway, 472-7484.
The retreat, called A Harvest of Memories at Scraptoberfest, is from 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4 through 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. General registration is $30 and does not include meals or a room. There is also preferred participant registration set at $85. The preferred participant registration includes a t-shirt, plus two lunches and two dinners, plus a 15 percent discount on supplies from Homespun Memories.
A block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express has been set aside for retreat participants, so when booking a room mention Scraptoberfest.
Smith said throughout the weekend there will be a silent auction, drawings, secret pals, games, give-aways and more. There will also be an exchange table where scrappers can donate excess materials and pick up things they need from others' contributions.
Friday's theme is "Crop till you Drop," with prizes at the evening's pajama party for those willing to scrap in their pj's. Cropping will go on from about 6:30 p.m. until midnight, Smith said.
Saturday's theme is "Somewhere in Time," with prizes for participants who come in costumes representing their favorite time period.
Special make-and-take classes are planned Saturday afternoon, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Pocket pages are scheduled from 2:30 to 3 p.m.; 6x6 accordion albums will be the project from 3 to 3:30 p.m.; and a stamping class is slated from 3:30 to 4 p.m.
Smith said registration at the retreat is limited to only 35 people, so she is urging everyone interested to sign up now. Registration closes Sept. 20.
